The most useful feedback is a task, not a verdict. If a comment asks the student to do something specific in the next ten minutes, it gets used. If it only describes what went wrong, it gets filed.

How do you make time for that in a busy lesson?

We protect the first ten minutes of the next lesson for responding to feedback. Students redraft one paragraph and the teacher circulates. It is the most valuable ten minutes of the week.
