This notice explains what personal data edTalks Academy collects, why, who we share it with, and the rights you have.

Controller
The company named at the top of this page is the controller of your personal data. When your school or employer gives you a seat, they are a separate controller for the progress reports they see.
What we collect
Account details (email, name, country, school, job role, language). Learning records (enrolments, progress, quiz answers, task evidence, reflections, certificates). Payment records (what you bought; card details are held by our payment provider, never by us). Usage events, linked to a pseudonymous identifier rather than your email.
Why we use it
To run your account and the modules you take (contract). To issue and verify certificates (contract and legitimate interests). To show your organisation your progress when you hold a seat they provide (legitimate interests). To improve the Academy with aggregate analytics you can opt out of (legitimate interests). To keep records the law requires, such as invoices (legal obligation).
AI processing
Tutor questions and, where you choose, reflections are sent to our AI provider with identifiers removed. We do not use your data to train AI models, and our providers are contractually barred from doing so.
Who we share it with
Our sub-processors, listed on the sub-processors page with the region where each processes data. Your organisation, when you hold a seat it provides: your name, email, modules completed, CPD hours and last activity. Anyone you give a certificate code to can see your name, the credential, the date and CPD hours.
Where it is stored
Learning data is stored in the European Union. Where a provider processes data outside the UK or EU, we rely on the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long we keep it
While your account is open. When you delete your account we remove your personal data within 30 days, except invoices (kept for 6 years) and certificate verification records, which keep only the name printed on the certificate so it can still be verified.
Your rights
You can access, correct, export or delete your data from your account page, and object to or restrict processing by writing to us. We answer within one month. You can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office or your local data protection authority.
Children
The Academy is for adults working in education. Do not upload pupils' personal data; the upload forms remind you of this and every file is virus-scanned and kept private.
