Accessibility statement

We want everyone who works in education to be able to use edTalks Academy, including people who use assistive technology.

Our target

The Academy aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, in English and Arabic, on phones and desktops.

What you can expect

Every page works with a keyboard alone. Videos have captions and talks have a full interactive transcript. The player and transcript have shortcuts: space to play or pause, left and right arrows to move 5 seconds, J and L to move 10 seconds. Text meets contrast requirements in the light and dark themes, and colour is never the only signal.

How we test

Automated checks (axe) run on every build and must report no serious or critical issues. We also test manually with a keyboard, VoiceOver on iOS and NVDA on Windows before each release.

Known limitations

Arabic captions are machine-translated first and reviewed afterwards; until review they may contain errors. Some older talk recordings have automatic transcripts that are marked as such.
